Alia Ismail

b. 1997,
Malaysia
Multidisciplinary artist whose practice spans painting, sculpture, 3D modelling, and food-based sculptural forms. She holds a Diploma in Fine Arts from UiTM Seri Iskandar, a Bachelor of Fine Arts, and a Master of Fine Art and Technology from UiTM Shah Alam. Alia’s work is driven by an interest in material transformation and visual storytelling, often blending fine art sensibilities with commercial and public-facing activations. Her sculptural practice, particularly her hyper-detailed food replicas, explores themes of consumption, cultural familiarity, and everyday joy, while her paintings and digital works reflect a strong foundation in form, colour, and technical precision. She has exhibited in institutional and group exhibitions including Jerayawara (2019), Euphoria(2021), and Balter (2024), and was recognised with both the Jury Pick Award and People’s Choice Award at Karex Art Against AIDS 2023. Alongside her studio practice, Alia has worked as an activation painter and event sculptor for brands such as Michael Kors and Sisley Paris, and continues to bridge fine art, design, and experiential production.
