Guided by a deep sense of joy and fulfilment in the creative process, Asyraf Hidayat often draws inspiration from nature, translating its rhythms, forms, and subtleties into his printmaking practice. He observes the organic patterns found in landscapes, plants, and environmental textures, distilling them into compositions that balance spontaneity with precision. Through layering, repetition, and experimentation with mark-making, he reinterprets natural elements into abstracted visuals that reflect both the beauty and fragility of the natural world. This connection to nature not only informs his aesthetic language but also grounds his work in themes of growth, harmony, and the quiet complexities of living environments.  Specialising in printmaking, Asyraf creates expressive and visually engaging works that reflect both his strong technical foundation and his experimentation with form, texture, and process. He employs a range of printmaking techniques, such as etching, relief, and mono print to explore how different materials and methods can shape visual outcomes. This exploratory spirit allows him to push the boundaries of traditional printmaking, incorporating unconventional tools, layered impressions, and spontaneous mark-making. His works often reveal a dynamic interplay between control and chance, highlighting the tactile qualities of the medium while capturing the emotional and atmospheric depth he seeks to convey. Born in Johor Bharu, Asyraf is a printmaker currently pursuing Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Art at Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), Shah Alam. Now based in Shah Alam, he continues to develop his artistic practice while actively expanding his creative network within the Malaysian art community.
